What the Role Is
The Health, Safety & Security Regional Manager is responsible for implementing, communicating, and coordinating all health, safety, and security programs for the assigned Heaven Hill locations. The primary focus of this role is to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning the health, safety, and productivity of workers and the security of the organization's operations.
The HS&S Regional Manager will ensure that health, safety, and security impact policies are successfully implemented across all assigned Heaven Hill locations.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all health and safety decisions critical to overall objectives, operations, and profitability.
- Develop, supervise, and coordinate site-specific worker safety training programs, media, and standard operating procedures to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote HS&S awareness.
- Directs the resources and activities of the company to support the HS&S programs by providing advice and guidance to facility Management.
- Oversee worker's compensation claims management and return-to-work programs for assigned facilities.
- Oversee management of the facility's DOT compliance program where applicable.
- Compile incident data for reporting to the business and analyze data for trends to develop targeted safety initiatives.
- Continually maintains an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness across the company to create a culture that prioritizes effective HS&S and balances associated costs.
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments and change existing or develop new recommendations from these assessments.
- Serve as the company HS&S expert when called upon to address regulatory agency compliance issues, third-party safety & liability consultants, and subcontractor representatives.
- Responsible for the development of annual budget recommendations and implementation.
- Provide regular reports and other production-related results and updates to Senior Leadership.
- Lead or assist the incident team in investigating all HS&S incidents - (general liability or worker's compensation recordable incidents, Near Miss and First Aid, and Security incidents) and ensure proper records are completed and submitted.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions as they relate to the incident and ensure “lessons learned” are communicated throughout the Company and incorporated into the program, if necessary.
- Serve as Emergency support for assigned locations and assist with maintaining current certifications in AED, First Aid, and CPR.
- Assure the scheduling of safety meetings across assigned locations to review HS&S performance and policies.
- Address specific reporting and record-keeping requirements of OSHA and other pertinent safety/regulatory compliance matters and ensure project sites are compliant.
- Recommend HS&S incentive programs and periodically review/update them to ensure they accomplish the desired results to maximize effect.
- Stay abreast of current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position.
- Personally conduct site visits/audits of assigned company facilities to regularly assess and address HS&S concerns.
- Oversee the corporate contractor safety program at all assigned facilities to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and Company policies.
- Participate in Capital project development or reviews to ensure proper HS&S consideration and design.
- Participate in/attend industry-related conferences as requested.
- Responsible for being on call during facility operating hours in a safety emergency.
- Lead and motivate change into a Safety-Focused culture while supporting the organization's core values.
Who You Are…
- Bachelor’s degree in health & safety, engineering, or related technical field.
- Five (5) or more years of work experience in the distilled spirits industry or relevant manufacturing environment.
- Strong program management, communication, analytical skills, and the ability to work in both a team and independently.
- Must be able to handle high-stress emergencies.
- Advanced knowledge of industry practices, regulatory agency requirements, recordkeeping requirements, and industry standards.
- Excellent critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or problem approaches.
- Analytical skills, gathering data from various sources and presenting it in formats suitable for various audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
- Reasoning Ability – Use basic reasoning, thinking “on your feet,” and ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from immediate supervisor.
- Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and render effective decisions.
- High proficiency in utilizing Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.
- Ability to travel 30-40% to assigned Heaven Hill locations.
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in public health or related field
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – ASP, CSP
- Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
- Experience and knowledge of Quality Certification and Awards (i.e., OHSAS 18001, etc.)
- Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Physical Requirements

You are occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel.
Must be able to move safely throughout the distillery, bottling plant, and all other facilities. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to walk, climb ladders, climb stairs, and walk on uneven ground. Exposure to dust, pollens, and other allergens is present in the workplace.
