Job Description

Duties

• Assess death reports to determine the extent of investigation required to close any given case.
• Perform scene investigations and determine associated facts related to death to assist in the determination of cause and manner of death.
• Establish scientific positive identification of decedent, communicate with family members to notify them of decedent's death and determine disposition of remains.
• Share investigative, forensic and medical information with involved agencies.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science or related field with at least one year of related experience.
• A current, valid driver's license is also required.
• Prefer law enforcement investigative experience, emergency medicine, medical examiner internship experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer completion of seminars related to death investigation.
• Certification by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) is required within the first two years of employment.
