Environmental Claims Consultant - Remote

Job Summary

Looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Claims Adjuster to handle complex environmental and pollution-related claims. This role involves managing claims from initial investigation through resolution, including coverage analysis, liability assessment, litigation management, and settlement negotiation. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of environmental insurance policies, regulations, and pollution liability exposures, with strong technical and analytical skills.

Compensation:

• $160,000 - $200,000/year (based on experience)

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex environmental and pollution liability claims in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Interpret and apply coverage terms for environmental/pollution liability policies, including site-specific, contractor's pollution liability, and environmental professional liability policies.
• Engage and manage environmental consultants, attorneys, and other experts as needed.
• Conduct timely and thorough coverage analysis and draft coverage position letters.
• Assess liability and damages, including environmental remediation costs, bodily injury, property damage, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Manage litigation strategy in conjunction with internal legal teams and external counsel.
• Maintain detailed and accurate claim documentation within the claims management system.
• Communicate claim status and strategies to internal stakeholders, brokers, and insureds.
• Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal quality standards.
• Mentor and support junior claims staff as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 7+ years of experience handling environmental and pollution-related claims.
• Strong understanding of environmental coverages and exposures, including CPL, PLL, EIL, and GL with pollution exclusions or exceptions.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex claims involving regulatory agencies (EPA, state DEPs), site cleanup, and long-tail pollution claims.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in drafting coverage letters and reports.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Experience working with TPAs, brokers, environmental consultants, and legal counsel.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
