Job Description

This position seeks a skilled educator specializing in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, serving grades K through 12. The role offers the opportunity to support diverse learners in a dynamic school environment located in Renton, WA. This contract position spans the current school year, providing impactful educational services tailored to students' unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across K-12 grades.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching strategies to meet varied learning requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, audiologists, and general education staff.
  • Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods such as sign language and auditory training.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting outcomes.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes academic and social growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in Deaf Education or related field.
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within the K-12 education system.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with assistive listening devices and educational technologies.
