Job Description

The Pharmacist is responsible for providing a full range of pharmaceutical care services. Working as part of the patient care team, the pharmacist contributes unique expertise in medication safety, therapeutics, education and medication preparation. The Pharmacist reports to the Pharmacy Supervisors and Directors. The work schedule is determined by the Pharmacy Supervisors and Directors. Essential duties include providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, promoting medication safety, rational cost-effective use of medications, providing pharmaceutical care to all types and ages of patients cared for at AMC, performing medication order and drug therapy review, preparing and dispensing medications, providing drug information, monitoring patient drug therapy, collaborating with caregivers and patients, supervising support personnel, participating in staff training and development, providing professional services and leadership, improving pharmaceutical care and services, assuming supervisor responsibilities when needed, and advancing pharmaceutical care services. Qualifications include a B.S. or Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited school, current NYS Pharmacy License, and preferably experience in health system pharmacy practice. The role requires strong communication, mathematical, professional, and reasoning skills, ability to work cooperatively and independently, and to perform in a complex and changing environment. Physical demands include standing, walking, handling objects, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. The work environment includes multiple hospital settings with exposure to infectious materials, chemicals, and other hazards. The job requires on-site presence as remote work is not possible.
