Job Description

Hospitality Confidential is thrilled to present a Sous Chef opportunity at a beautifully restored inn in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, featuring an upscale fine dining restaurant, rustic bistro, and a growing calendar of private events. This is a dynamic, full-time role for a hands-on, technically skilled Sous Chef ready to bring creativity, professionalism, and leadership to a purpose-driven kitchen.

The Sous Chef will work side-by-side with the Executive Chef to ensure consistency and excellence across two distinct outlets—from multi-course tasting menus to casual bistro fare to thoughtfully executed weddings. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily culinary operations
  • Ensuring timing, consistency, and presentation standards during service
  • Train and support junior staff, fostering a respectful, professional kitchen culture
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and adherence to all food safety protocols
  • Contribute to seasonal menu development and event planning
  • Monitor inventory, support cost control, and help maintain food costs at or below targets
  • Serve as acting kitchen lead in the Executive Chef’s absence
  • Assist in execution of weddings, private dinners, and custom events

What We Are Looking For:

  • 3+ years of professional kitchen experience
  • Strong technical foundation and attention to detail in prep, plating, and service
  • Clear communicator who thrives in a team-driven, guest-focused environment
  • Experience with both fine dining and casual concepts preferred
  • Confident managing staff, time, and service flow during high-pressure periods
  • Current ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
