Service Assistant Manager – Toyota Chula Vista Job Summary: This person must be “GOAL” oriented, an excellent leader and be able to manage a staff of Service Advisors. The Service Lane Manager runs an efficient and profitable service department through productive staffing, training, customer retention, cost controls, achievement of objectives and maintenance of all service records. They ensure that the daily inventory of technician’s time is consistently sold to service customers.
Responsibilities: - Works with the Service Director to achieve all company objectives; responsible for daily/weekly/monthly goals and meets them successfully.
- Proficiency in the Sunroad Auto Service write-up process. Responsible for training, motivating, counseling, and monitoring the performance of all service staff on the modules.
- Responsible for customer satisfaction scores and customer retention efforts.
- Monitors and controls the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems, and surveys.
- Helps to develop and implement a marketing plan which promotes new and repeat business.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations.
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Accounts for all documents; ensures that none are missing and are processed correctly.
- Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees.
- Ensures associates are scheduled and arrive on time.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Works with service management staff and team leaders to ensure shop production objectives.
- Works with the service management staff to preload shop for daily work.
- Works to achieve work in process goals and minimize carry overs.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines.
- Maintains safe work environment.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Responsible for leading daily service drive huddle meetings with the service consultants, lot personnel, main line technicians, and extra emphasis with express lube techs.
- Responsible for first time customer experience.
- Coordinate Introduction to Service process for new car sales customers.
Qualifications:
- Five plus years of experience in an automotive industry
- Two plus years of supervisory preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient knowledge of dealership computer systems
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great communication and customer service skills to deliver a high standard of service
- Excellent organizational skills and attention while managing multiple priorities at once
- Proficient knowledge of dealership computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite or relates software to maintain service record database and track inventory
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
Physically demanding role:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and managing the flow of vehicles
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat
