  • Assess and distinguish between directly related and relevant evidence.
  • Prepare high-quality written investigation reports with timely, in-depth analysis, credibility assessments, and clear fact-finding.
  • Participate in meetings, hearings, or grievance processes related to investigation outcomes; serve as a hearing officer or panel member as needed.
  • Understand and follow Grand River Solutions’ standards for investigations, resolutions, and report writing, as well as the specific policies, procedures, and timelines of client institutions.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment in determining lines of questioning, required documentation, and appropriate communications, with oversight and approvals as necessary.

  • Stay current on relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504, ADA, FMLA, VAWA, and the Clery Act.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and represent Grand River Solutions with integrity at all times.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned, which may include drafting for colleagues, conducting informal resolutions, supporting appeals, or assisting with hearing processes.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience working in diverse and inclusive environments, particularly with individuals from varied racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
