Job Title: Scenic Carpenter / Finish Carpenter (OSHA 30 + SST Required)
Location: NYC Metro Area (NY, NJ, CT)
Pay: $37.00 – $42.00 per hour (based on experience & certification level)
Type: Freelance, Project-Based | Part-Time

In the NYC Metro Area, our crews support everything from theatrical builds and concerts to large-scale marketing activations, corporate events, and immersive experiences. We install scenic and technical elements such as staging, lighting, sound, temporary structures, event furniture, and branded environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and install scenic and finished elements per drawings and plans

• Execute precision carpentry for cabinets, molding, doors, and trim

• Operate hand and power tools safely; work with wood, veneer, steel, and other materials

• Read schematics, troubleshoot issues, and adapt on-site as needed

• Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work area

Detailed Skill Sets (Preferred)

• Cabinet building, drawer/door installation, and hinge/lock placement

• Onsite fabrication, molding layout, and setup

• Veneer and hardwood finishing techniques

• High-end prep work for painting (filling, sanding, refinishing)

• Repairing laminate/veneer chips or scratches without damaging finish

• Estimating material needs and communicating hardware requirements

• Problem-solving when prefabricated elements don’t fit as expected

• Reading drawings/schematics and executing with precision

What You’ll Need

• 3+ years professional carpentry experience (scenic, theatrical, or finish work preferred)

• Proficiency with hand and power tools, with a focus on safe use and proper handling

• Reliable transportation to and from job sites across the NYC Metro Area

• Professional attitude and reliability on-site

• OSHA 30 + NYC SST certification (required for NYC job sites)

• Additional certifications (forklift, aerial lift, rigging) a plus
