Job Description
Modena Ristorante Vinoteca is looking for a professional, hospitality-driven part-time Host to serve as the first point of contact for our guests. Ideal candidates are poised, attentive, and efficient, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage reservations, waitlists, and seating coordination in a high-volume dining environment. This role is Tuesday through Sunday, with starting shifts at 4:00 p.m., totaling 15–20 hours per week. Weekend availability is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome guests immediately with a friendly, professional attitude
Manage reservations and walk-ins using Resy system
Accurately quote wait times and keep guests updated
Seat guests fairly and efficiently based on server sections and table availability
Communicate clearly with servers, bussers, and managers to maintain smooth service
Answer phones, take to-go orders, and respond to guest questions
Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entry area
Assist with light front-of-house tasks (menus, water service, resetting tables)
Handle guest concerns politely and escalate to management when needed
Say goodbye to guests and invite them to return
Qualifications & Skills
Prior hosting, customer service, or restaurant experience preferred (not required for the right person)
Excellent communication and people skills
Strong organization and multitasking ability
Comfortable standing and moving for long periods
Ability to stay calm and friendly in a fast-paced environment
Team-first mindset and attention to detail
Basic comfort with reservation/waitlist systems or willingness to learn
Must be able to work [weekends/holidays/evenings as needed]
Physical Requirements
Standing/walking for extended periods (up to 8+ hours)
Lifting up to 25 lbs (menus, chairs, light supplies)
Frequent bending, reaching, and moving around a busy dining room
