Job Description

B&H Publishing's award-winning in-house creative services team is seeking a Graphic Design Intern to gain real project experience in publication and marketing design for trade books. A summer internship with our team includes exposure to all aspects of book design and promotion—from the initial creative brief through the printed book. This may include cover ideation and brainstorming, spine and back cover design and mechanicals (preparing files for the printer), creation of social media assets (i.e. share squares), and gaining knowledge about special printing processes like foil stamping and spot varnish.

 

Interning at Lifeway

 

The Lifeway Internship Program is designed to provide college students and recent college graduates a valuable learning experience where they can grow professionally, personally, and spiritually. Our internships offer significantly more than “busy work.” As an intern, you’ll receive professional development and leadership training, exposure to senior leaders, and mentoring relationships with professionals in your field.

 

Internship Program Details/Requirements

 

• Lifeway’s summer internship program offers a competitive hourly pay rate, all necessary equipment will be provided
• Interns work 32 hours per week on average with Tuesday - Thursday as required core workdays
• Interns must commit to participate in the entirety of the program: June 3 - August 9, 2024 (10 weeks)
• Candidates must be currently enrolled at a college or university in an undergraduate or graduate program, and have fully completed at least two years of study. Recent graduates are eligible if they graduated the semester immediately prior (December 2023 or May 2024 graduates only)

• Interns will receive development each week

• Interns will work remotely throughout the program with the exception of orientation and end-of-summer presentations. Lifeway will cover the cost of travel to Nashville

• Internship applications are due by January 15, we will begin interviews once the applications are closed. Selections are finalized by April 1

 

This is a remote position in the U.S. with travel to Nashville at the beginning and end of the summer, cost for travel is covered by Lifeway.

 

• Create and develop graphic designs and art solutions, with an emphasis in page and book layout

• Collaborate with other designers, illustrators and photographers throughout project life-cycles

• Assist in artwork development projects and production work

• Ensure that designs conform to the approved specifications and reflect current design trends

• Build InDesign pages and then export, apply metadata and deliver product covers and art images to databases according to approved standards, taxonomy and specifications

• Live out   Lifeway’s mission and values , showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
• Major in Graphic design with a digital (pdf or web) portfolio (portfolio can be 100% student/personal work)
• A minor in printmaking, illustration, photography, typography, or other tangential skillset is preferred
• A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator) is a must for this hands-on creative role
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365
