AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Program Manager to take full ownership of project delivery for one of our most important customers. This role is responsible for ensuring that every project milestone—from gateway deployment through to commercial service launch—is delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role in a fast-paced startup environment, requiring close collaboration with technical and operational teams as well as direct customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, track, and drive all project deliverables from initiation to completion
• Build and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and status reports
• Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies
• Ensure project acceptance and support revenue recognition
• Function as the primary project interface for the customer, managing contractual and delivery aspects
• Align deliverables with contractual commitments and customer expectations
• Lead regular customer project reviews and provide transparent reporting
• Collaborate with the Project Engineer / Technical Lead to align technical execution with project goals
• Coordinate across engineering, operations, and product teams to remove roadblocks
• Ensure smooth handovers between deployment, testing, and operations
• Hands on approach from updating tracking sheets to participating in onsite calls
• Maintain lightweight but effective processes that balance speed with structure
• Continuously improve workflows to enhance future project execution

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Telecom, Electrical, Computer, or related field)
• Experience with Satellite, RAN vendors, or MNOs preferred

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects in telecom, satellite, or related technical fields

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects on time and within scope
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment
• Experience with gateway deployments, telecom, satellite, or 5G/IoT projects
• Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project delivery methodologies
• PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification (preferred but not required)

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and deliverables

Technology Stack

Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, MS Project, or similar

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a standard office environment
• Ability to use a computer for extended periods
• Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings and site support
