Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform duties required to evaluate and treat common diseases of the foot with emphasis in health and conditions affecting the lower extremities. The care provided will be inclusive of initial assessment, minor procedures not including the operating room), and appropriate triage when necessary.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, Active Missouri Podiatric License, DEA, and BNDD

Experience: 2 years' experience in podiatric medicine

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

1. Ability, skills and knowledge to recognize and treat patients 13 years and older for foot and lower extremity diseases.
2. Strong computer skills with capability to utilize Electronic Health Records.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to multitask and work cohesively in a fast-paced office environment.
5. Ability to coordinate patient flow and manage multiple tasks at once.

Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

1. Current Missouri Podiatric License
2. Current Podiatric Board Certification
3. BNDD
4. DEA
5. CPR Certified

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

1. Provide primary pediatric care for patients 13 years + in a trauma-informed manner and with an equity lens as outlined by education, scope, and privileging of Affinia Healthcare.
2. Make appropriate referrals.
3. Minor procedures within scope for the foot, ankle, and lower extremity (not including the operating room).
4. Provide life support and emergency evaluation/care in response to life threatening situations in the absence of the physician and/or other appropriate health professional.
5. Compile complete and interval health histories on patients within their scope.
6. Perform complete physical assessment as well as physicals directed towards episodic or interval concerns for patients within their scope.
7. Select, perform and/or interpret the appropriate routine laboratory and diagnostic tests within scope.
8. Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health related to scope.
9. Make diagnosis and treatment decisions including medication prescribing within scope of practice.
10. Maintain appropriate records; utilizes the tracking system to follow up on patients.
11. Contribute ideas for improvement for Affinia Healthcare.
12. Participate in record review, peer review, and quality improvement programs.
13. Participate in staff meetings, department meetings, and staff committees.
14. Maintain productivity and quality standards established by federal guidelines and Affinia Healthcare.
15. Follow Affinia Healthcare Clinician Best Practices and policies.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Marginal Functions:

1. Attends Providers, staff, and agency meetings as necessary.
2. Represents Affinia Healthcare within the service neighborhood and the larger community.
3. Attends CME sessions as required.
4. Completes Peer Review and Relias education sessions as required.

Supervises: Students, Residents, Volunteers
