About Us:
Middle River Aerostructure Systems is a world-leading manufacturer of thrust reversers (the braking system on a jet engine), engine nacelle components and specialized aerostructures. It supplies and supports these products for engine makers, airplane manufacturers and aircraft operators. Located on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, MRAS has a 1.7-million sq. ft. facility situated on 180 acres – where the company and its predecessors have designed, built and equipped civil and military aircraft for over 90 years. In 2019, MRAS was acquired by ST Engineering North America, the U.S. affiliate of Singapore-based ST Engineering – becoming a part of its global network of aerospace facilities and offices. With the ownership change, the company was renamed Middle River Aerostructure Systems.

Internship summary:

Interns gain broad exposure to varied areas such as Design, Engineering, Lean, Manufacturing/Production, Quality, Engineering services and Sourcing / materials related on their field of study. Experienced managers mentor Intern contributions and development during their assignments. Interns build leadership and functional skills through structured hands-on and class room training that complements challenging work experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Works on projects often requiring independent decision-making. These projects are normally scoped to last between 2 and 6 months in duration but can last for as long as 2 years.

•Develops PowerPoint presentations and other graphic presentations to communicate progress, share best practices, or to provide updates.

•May be asked to analyze data with excel or various other analysis tools

• May be asked to take on certain aspects of a full-time job within the function the intern is studying. For example, may be asked to write software code if in an engineering internship or might be asked to perform compensation analysis if in a HR internship.

• May be asked to participate in early talent events, seminars or training.

• Performing assignments where trust and accuracy are required.

Requirements
  • Current enrollment in a degree program that will lead to a bachelors or technical degree with minimum 3.0 GPA .
  • Completed one full year of college (rising Sophomore)
  • Dependable transportation to / from work
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; able to balance multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen OR Green card holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 24 credit hours of coursework toward a bachelors/technical (or equivalent) degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Material Science, related engineering and/or non-Engineering degree program.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines.
  • Previous experience using independent thought processes to plan ahead, process information, maintain workflow and anticipate future needs of the team.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse team across different time zones.
