Job Description

We are the ASSA ABLOY Group
Our people have made us the global leader in access solutions. In return, we open doors for them wherever they go. With nearly 61,000 colleagues in more than 70 different countries, we help billions of people experience a more open world. Our innovations make all sorts of spaces – physical and virtual – safer, more secure, and easier to access.

As an employer, we value results – not titles, or backgrounds. We empower our people to build their career around their aspirations and our ambitions – supporting them with regular feedback, training, and development opportunities. Our colleagues think broadly about where they can make the most impact, and we encourage them to grow their role locally, regionally, or even internationally.

As we welcome new people on board, it’s important to us to have diverse, inclusive teams, and we value different perspectives and experiences.

We’re seeking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer – Intern / Co-Op to support PEMKO’s product line. • Take the lead in crafting and optimizing mechanical components for our cutting-edge Opening Systems. Your canvas includes thresholds, hinges, gasketing, automatic door bottoms, astragals, power transfers, sliding and folding hardware, and more. Let your creativity run wild!
  • Create and execute meticulous product testing & measurement plans; including alpha & beta testing, alongside compliance inspections. Your focus will be on ensuring durability and functionality, making you a true quality assurance virtuoso.
  • Delve deep into the intricacies of mechanical systems. Conduct structural, fatigue, thermal, and acoustics analyses to ensure our designs stand up to scrutiny.
  • Craft intricate design drawings that adhere to industry standards and tolerances, turning your visions into tangible realities.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to choose the right components, oversee manufacturing, and manage assembly processes, becoming the bridge between creativity and production.
  • Engage with a diverse group of professionals, including engineers, production experts, and other personnel, to troubleshoot issues, establish efficient procedures, and provide valuable technical insights.
  • Dive into the depths of customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals.

Requirements:

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Project).
  • Work experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling and AutoCAD (preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Showcasing excellent problem-solving skills, you can untangle complex challenges with ease.
  • Self-driven learner with strong organizational skills.
  • A background in mechanical parts and systems design is preferred. Manufacturing experience adds to your appeal.
