Qualifications: • Ability to perform work requiring physical strength and endurance
• Ability to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions
• Ability to work at heights from a ladder, scaffolding, or mechanical lift
• Mastery of journeyman level skill in the use of the tools, materials and equipment of the low voltage trade
• Knowledge of the Security Systems, Fire Panels & Video Management Systems
• Three (3) years or more of progressive experience in the trade.
• Ability to plan and organize detail of assignments, read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and manuals
• Ability to troubleshoot, determine causes of routine malfunctions, and take necessary corrective measures
• Completion of a technical program related to the trade at a vocational school, college, military training
program or completion of an apprenticeship program
• Holds a valid Florida driver's license
• BICSI Cabling & Fiber Certification to be obtained within the first year of employment
• FASA/BASA to be obtained within the first two (2) years of employment
Preferred Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in the public-school environment
• FASA/BASA Certification

Performance Responsibilities: 1. Observes all safe work practices when using tools, equipment and chemicals.
2. Works effectively with, cooperates with, and supports other employees.
3. Uses district electronic work order system to perform work orders with minimal supervision.
4. Repairs, maintains, and prescribes safe conditions of all alarms, fire panels, cameras and low voltage equipment in the
facilities operated by the school board.
5. Advises maintenance manager if a work order or repair should be performed by outside contractors based on scope of work, materials required, or personal experience.
6. Attends formal and informal training sessions on new equipment and related items pertaining to trade or department.
7. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase.
8. Provides advice and recommendation to supervisor regarding preferred repair materials and carried inventory.
9. Maintains school board owned tools, equipment, and truck inventory.
10. Examines and maintains low voltage components in district-operated facilities on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance.
11. Assists supervisor with the training of new employees.
12. Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
