Long periods of sitting behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer (8 hours of driving before DOT 30-minute break)
Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
Ability to operate a CMV in Interstate and Intrastate Commerce
Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers
Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
Ability to crank landing gear up/down on trailers
Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving

Reporting defects, accidents, and violations
Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.) and trailers
Climbing in/out of tractor/trailer and cleaning/sweeping trailers as needed

Maintaining mental awareness of self and surroundings
Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
Recording cargo deliveries
