Join to apply for the Lateral Police Officer - San Francisco Police Department (Q002) role at City and County of San Francisco Role description The San Francisco Police Department is seeking Peace Officers with valid POST certification to serve in a highly respected department. Officers perform duties such as patrolling, responding to emergencies, criminal investigations, community interaction, arrests, traffic enforcement, report writing, and administrative tasks. This role offers a career opportunity to serve and protect a vibrant community. Minimum qualifications Valid California POST (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) Certificate or Basic Course Waiver (BCW) High school diploma, G.E.D., California High School Proficiency Examination, or higher degree from an accredited U.S. college/university At least 21 years old at the time of appointment Valid driver’s license, California driver’s license prior to hire No felony or domestic violence convictions, no misdemeanors prohibiting firearm ownership, and not restricted from employment with SF Application process and verification Applicants must submit POST certificates or BCW with their application. Verification of education and experience may be required during the process. Falsification may lead to disqualification. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of applications, and incomplete applications may be disqualified. Selection procedures Candidates will undergo an oral interview (100%) assessing community involvement, motivation, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and communication. Passing candidates are added to an eligible list for up to 24 months. The department may hire from this list without guarantee of employment.
