The Laboratory Specimen Processor is responsible for preparing, sorting, labeling, and entering data for clinical specimens in a fast-paced laboratory environment to ensure accurate testing. This role involves handling biological samples, maintaining organization, and meeting departmental production goals. The position requires attention to detail, proficiency in data entry, and adherence to standard operating procedures to support physician care and laboratory operations.

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing and Accessioning team at Raritan, NJ. The Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Pay Range: $17.25-$20/hr.

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday and alternating Mondays, 9pm - 5:30am

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas

  • Accurately identify and label specimens 

  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities 

  • Meet department activity and production goals

  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples 

  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner 

  • Resolve and document any problem specimens

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • No relative experience required; 1-2 years preferred 

  • Previous medical or production experience is a plus

  • Comfortable handling biological specimens 

  • Ability to accurately identify specimens 

  • Experience working in a team environment 

  • Strong data entry and organizational skills

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Proficient in MS Office 

  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.

  • Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
