Summary: Perform minor component repair and all aspects of preventative maintenance. What You'll Do:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
PM services
Vehicle component replacement under technician’s supervision
Electrical system and lighting repairs
Cooling system maintenance
Perform basic diagnostics
Assist mechanics with tractor and trailer repairs
Assist with tire repairs and perform tire replacements
Drive forklifts and non-CDL company vehicles
Understand and adhere to all safety standards
Keep shop and personal work area clean and organized
Perform all other duties as assigned
Provide excellent Customer Service

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a set of basic hand tools and be able to purchase additional hand tools as needed
Must be willing and able to drive a service vehicle to where a customer is having a problem, and be able to perform light mechanical service as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1-2 years of automotive or diesel experience preferred
Vocational or Technical certification preferred
Working knowledge in the use of hand tools required
Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems
Must possess a mechanical aptitude
LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Good oral and written communication ability
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
No specific math skills required
REASONING ABILITY
No specific reasoning ability required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid drivers license is required with minimal violations as required by PGT drivers policies and be able to at least pull trucks in/out of shop safely.

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.
Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
Job duties may be performed at PGT locations, at customer locations, and on service calls on the side of a highway. This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments, therefore exposure to heat and cold is to be expected. Excellent safety and attendance performance is expected.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel occasionally domestically.
Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
