Orange County Parent Child Center (OCPCC) is growing the dedicated team of Early Childhood Educators at our program in Tunbridge, VT . We offer above average pay starting at $20-$28.00 an hour based on education and experience. OCPCC’s Early Education Program is a year-round, full-day (7:30 AM – 5:00 PM) early education program serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in Central Vermont. We strive to create an experience that keeps the physical space and materials simple and grounded by natural elements whenever possible, and believe that children deserve to be surrounded by an atmosphere that models the rhythms of home and seeks connections to the natural world.

We are currently seeking Early Childhood Educators to serve in the roles of teacher assistant and teacher associate.

Duties

Responsibilities:
  • Creating and implementing a program which meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, artistic, and social needs of both individual children and the group.
  • Implementing approved curriculum, in coordination with the Program Director.
  • Keeping staff and parents informed of program goals and development.
  • Preparing a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing, and permits the child to grow and explore.
  • Interacting with the children and encouraging their involvement in activities; providing materials appropriate to the development level.
  • Understanding each child’s developmental stage so the expectations are reasonable.
  • Remaining current with IEP goals and designing plans accordingly.
  • Observing, recording and reporting significant individual and group behavior.
  • Preparing and organizing material needed in the program
  • Updating children’s daily attendance sheets and staff schedules.
  • Displaying a positive attitude toward children and adults.
  • Establishing and maintaining good communications with parents through conferences – formally twice a year or as requested by parents and informally on a regular basis.
  • Administering first aid and handling emergency situations quickly and calmly.
  • Participating in 48 hours per year of training (in addition to CPR/First Aid) or more, at the Director’s discretion and keeping documentation current on the Bright Futures Information System.
  • Communicating with families regularly via newsletters or classroom blog.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all information.
  • Compliance with state licensing requirements.
