Supports the work of the Keene Family YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Build members and the community's understanding of the YMCA's cause and impact.
The Director of Youth Enrichment and Programs provides direct leadership, development, implementation and delivery of high-quality programs, including youth and adult sports, physical educational, Ninja, Gymnastics programs, homeschool enrichment, summer and vacation camps, and Arts and Humanities initiatives. The Director of Youth Enrichment and Programs ensures programs are delivered in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. All programs are guided by YMCA policies and practices. This role is approximately 60% administrative and 40% instructional.
Requirements:Essential Functions
1. Build personal, culturally aware, and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. Listening, sharing, learning, and engaging, creating an environment where every voice is heard, and every person is respected, loved, valued, and feels welcome in our community.
2. Develops, implements and manages operating plans to promote programs and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Measures programs against strategic goals and ensures continuous improvement.
3. Directly supervises, supports and evaluates the Gymnastics Coordinator and Recreational Coordinator.
4. Leads in the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of staff and volunteers to ensure adequate class coverage.
5. Collaborate with the Coordinators on staff performance reviews and evaluations.
6. Develops, implements, directs, and instructs, youth and adult sport programs, physical education programs, ninja and gymnastics programs, homeschool programs, summer/vacation programming, Arts and Humanities programs and special events. Ensure activities and staff meet YMCA objectives. Expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic operating plans.
7. Helps to develop lesson plans and curriculum guidelines for new and existing programs. While incorporating the YMCA Character Development Values.
8. Develop and distribute program schedules and oversee program registration.
9. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by developing and managing budgets to achieve revenue targets and expense controls.
10. Involved in the marketing and distribution of program information.
11. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
12. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in Programs.
13. Engages in professional development opportunities, including YMCA programs designed to build leadership competencies. Attend staff meetings, training, evaluations, and other scheduled events to remain current on industry trends, safety practices, and continuing education.
14. Maintains and orders all equipment to meet the needs of members and program
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 3+ years related experience working with youth, teens and adults in a recreational setting.
2. 3+ years of supervisory responsibilities of 6 or more staff members.
3. 3+ years' experience managing a program budget.
4. Proven experience developing new programs.
5. Demonstrated ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
6. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
7. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve, and possess effective time management skills.
8. Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain relationships with all stakeholders.
9. Proficient knowledge with Microsoft office applications and various technology/applications
PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in sports management, recreational policy or related field.
2. 5+ years related experience working with youth, teens and adults within a recreation setting
3. 5+ years management experience of 6 or more staff in a recreational field.
4. 5+ years' experience managing a program budget.
5. Experience recruiting, cultivating, and supervising volunteers
6. Training or work experience with creating a culture of belonging.
