Summary

Under minimal supervision this position will pickup mail from Post Office and take back to Central Stores Mail Room for sorting. Deliver and pick-up mail from each City department. Bundle out-going mail by departments and have ready for Panhandle Presort to pickup by end of shift. Keep abreast of postal requirements and changes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Pick-up mail from Post Office and bring back to City Hall for sorting.
• Deliver and pick-up outside and interoffice mail from each department within the city.
• Sort outgoing and inter-office mail received into proper mail bins.
• Prepare outgoing mail for Presort pickup.
• Responsible for keeping city vehicle cleaned and serviced.
• As time permits, asks other personnel if they need assistance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. New residents are required to obtain a Texas driver license from the Texas Department of Public Safety within 90 days of moving to the state. Previous experience in the delivery and sorting of mail and other items is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use standard office equipment including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) and good alphabetic filing skills.
• Ability to lift mail totes that may weigh up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to walk and drive safely during inclement weather.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended durations as required by the role.
