Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Success, the Student Success Data Analyst will lead assessment of student success data and initiatives. Primary responsibilities include data collection, providing data translation, data modeling, data management, data flows, and providing input to assist with initiatives to improve student retention and progression. This role will deliver and maintain data solutions which support informed decision-making, problem solving, planning, process development, self-assessment, and data reporting focused in all areas across the institution leading to improved student support and success. This is a professional position demonstrating the ability to learn, collaborate, and deliver impactful data solutions under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Success.

Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the design, development, execution, and reporting of primary research working collaboratively with divisional leadership across the institution with emphasis on Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Strategic Enrollment Management. Works with campus data managers to assist in the understanding of complex information to assist in developing actionable insights supporting student success.
  2. Collect data from multiple internal and external sources and synthesize information that helps leaders make sound strategic and tactical decisions regarding programs, services, personnel, and budget.
  3. Provide support to the AVP of Student Success to conceptualize, design, administer, analyze, and present results of quantitative and qualitative research and assessment related to improving new student enrollment, engagement, retention, graduation, and other elements of student success.
  4. Maintain and enhance data engineering flows that organize and deliver data. Develop and test analytics solutions that integrate, consolidate, and transform various structured and unstructured data.
Required Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelors Degree

Required Experience

  • Degree specific fields include computer science, statistics, data analytics, information systems, or a related field. 2-4 years of experience in related position(s)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SPSS, SAS, or other relevant statistical and reporting software packages to organize and analyze information
  • Ability to effectively communicate data analysis and recommendations Intermediate to advanced skills creating and managing spreadsheets (e.g., Excel)
  • Proven experience successfully leading change and fostering collaboration across units and functional areas
  • Excellent organizational skills and analytical ability, experience in framing new initiatives, a strong focus on outcomes, and experience in communicating results

Physical Requirements

Lifting ¿ up to 15lbs Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment.

Proposed Salary

$70,000.00 annually, paid on a monthly basis

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of programming and organizational strategies and their application in the higher education setting
  • Structured Query Language (SQL): This programming language allows data analysts to read, write, organize, and analyze data within a relational database. It¿s a fundamental skill required by any experienced data analyst.
  • Microsoft Excel: Have an advanced understanding of MS Excel methods like macros and VBA lookups.
  • Programming Languages: Experience with R and Python statistical languages.
  • Data Visualization: Transform complex data into a form that¿s easy to understand.
  • Data Cleansing: Retrieving data from different sources and preparing it for analysis. Data may be in various different formats or contain errors, missing fields, and inaccuracies. Before any useful analysis can take place, the data must be corrected.
  • Statistical Knowledge: A background in statistics or knowledge, familiar with clustering, MapReduce technology, unstructured data concepts, and association rule

Skills

  • Expertise with quantitative and qualitative data analytics and data management software (i.e. SPSS or R) and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Qualtrics, and/or data dashboards like Tableau Software.
  • Presentation Skills: Good presentation skills, allowing stakeholders to understand your perspective

Abilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience creating and delivering effective presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, to synthesize information from a variety of constituents, and use that information to build consensus and/or make decisions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, coordinate and/or facilitate multiple projects and deadlines independently or with limited supervision.
  • Ability to ask the right questions to get the right information.
  • Ability to think on your feet and be innovative in your approach.
  • Comfortable working with both internal and external stakeholders.
