Pay Rate: $57,200 starting salary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist public relations and community engagement leadership team in positioning TIRC as philanthropic and community leader through engaging and impactful strategies, programs and campaigns
  • Work with Prairie Island Communications team to bring expanded and measurable attention and visibility to the rich heritage culture and traditions of the Prairie Island Indian Community through TIRC sports, media and community partnerships
  • Contribute to the execution of an annual public relations strategic plan that brings positive attention and awareness to TIRC and its amenities, entertainment and standing as local and regional community leader
  • Work with internal advertising and creative teams and TIRC media agency to support and enhance relationships and programs with media partners, including radio endorsers and additional media talent
  • Aid Communications and Partnerships Manager in the activation of sport team sponsorships and media partnerships
  • Work on public relations strategies, campaigns and supporting content that promotes the TIRC brand
  • Create and disseminate Treasure Island related press releases
  • Help facilitate all Treasure Island media requests as needed
  • Support the Community Engagement Supervisor by effectively communicating Treasure Island's commitment to the community through digital content and storytelling
  • Help Community Engagement Supervisor to execute strategic philanthropy and donation process
  • Manage and participate in on-site and off-site events, including Treasure Island partner events concerts
  • Effectively communicate Treasure Island brand through various internal communication materials as directed
  • Work with internal business partners to analyze and respond to guest feedback and comments

KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge and Certification- Required:

  • 4-year degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and 5 years experience in Public Relations, Communications or related field; or a combination of equivalent experience and/or education
  • 2-3 years experience in media relations, including successfully pitching stories
  • 2-3 years experience creating engaging and relevant content to generate earned media through proactive media outreach
  • Experience in internal and crisis communications
  • Experience managing and communicating information using innovative communication tactics
  • Experience in activating and leveraging partnerships to generate additional measurable brand value
  • Tactical understanding of all primary social medial platforms
  • Experience working within a digital donation program

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk, stand or sit for long periods throughout the day
  • Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend and kneel and stoop
  • Must have the ability to independently lift up to 25+ pounds occasionally

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Office, restaurant, gaming floor and convention center environment including flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smoke and outdoors for guest events
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including all shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Extensive computer use
  • Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile individuals
  • High volume direct public contact
