Job Description: The
Chief Compliance Officer will report to OneOncology's
Chief Legal Officer . The CCO will lead OneOncology's compliance team and oversee the success of platform-wide compliance initiatives. This role is responsible for strategic planning and operational leadership pertaining to compliance and healthcare industry regulatory requirements as well as development, oversight and continuous improvement of OneOncology's corporate compliance program. The CCO will also be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive and aligned compliance program at OneOncology's affiliated oncology practices in partnership with physician and administrative leadership at such practices. Lastly, the CCO will have primary responsibility, in collaboration with OneOncology's Chief Legal Officer, to the OneOncology Board of Managers - Compliance Committee.
Responsibilities - Lead the development/refinement, implementation, and management of ethics, compliance, and completion of compliance risk assessments at OneOncology and each of its affiliated practices.
- Lead the development/refinement and report out on Compliance programs, initiatives, and successes/failures. Justify and explain areas of non-compliance and corrective action plans to stakeholders, including the CEO and OneOncology's Board of Managers as well as the Board's compliance committee.
- Lead and manage OneOncology's compliance team, including compliance officials at OneOncology's affiliated practices.
- Proactively identify and analyze the root cause of non-compliance, or specific challenges and concerns achieving compliance, as well as ability to develop and implement solutions.
- Work collaboratively throughout the platform in a leadership, advisory and facilitative capacity utilizing interdepartmental teams and training systems to achieve corporate and practice compliance, quality improvement and risk management goals and objectives.
- Investigate potential incidents pertaining to healthcare coding, billing and reimbursement, any allegations of fraud, abuse, or conflict of interest, suspected or actual breaches of privacy, confidentiality, and security.
- Refine, monitor, and ensure implementation of the OneOncology Compliance Program in response to changes in the law, consult with department/program representatives to ensure program effectiveness and support such efforts.
- Develop and implement compliance policies and training programs in support of OneOncology's Compliance program.
- Lead the use and implementation of an ethics/compliance reporting system for employees to report concerns and obtain assistance. Ensure adequate mechanisms exist for enforcement of compliance requirements and violation discipline.
- Respond to ethics complaints and improper government activities in a timely and effective manner.
- Use appropriate judgement in answering questions and releasing information, analyze, educate on, and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations.
- Work with the HR Department, Legal Department, Operations, Information Technology, Research and other departments as appropriate to develop effective compliance for OneOncology and affiliated practice employees.
- Other duties as assigned to drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
Qualifications - Master's degree or Juris Doctor preferred.
- At least 10 years of healthcare compliance experience with at least 5 years in senior management required.
- Prior experience with developing and operating health care provider compliance programs required, with specific experience with physician organizations and physician practice management (PPM) organizations preferred.
- Experience in relationships with pharmaceutical/biotechnology distributor and manufacturer relationships beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of compliance professionals
- CHC or CCEP certification desired but not required.
- Experience with managed care, state regulatory agencies, DOI, and CMS regulations are required.
- Expert knowledge of healthcare operations, fraud, waste and abuse (FWA), foreign corrupt practices finance, quality assurance, HIPAA, safety, federal and state healthcare regulations required.
- Experience with NAVEX,Healthstream, OneTrust and HITRUST or similar systems and frameworks is preferred.
- Demonstrates and upholds the highest levels of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed and requested.
