Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for reviewing and analyzing a variety of surgical and hospital outpatient coding, patient medical records, and ensuring the accuracy of coding. You will help maintain records in compliance with medical and legal standards and support billing functions to ensure timely and efficient collection of medical payments. This position offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment where attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are key.

Responsibilities:

Analyze coding services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments with precision.
Identify and resolve any billing issues related to coding discrepancies.
Code and bill for vascular scans.
Assign ICD-10 DX and CPT codes for outpatient surgical suite procedures.
Assign ICD-10 DX and CPT codes for hospital consults and surgical procedures.
Review operative notes to ensure accurate coding for post-surgical consults and charges.
Perform additional administrative tasks as needed to support the team.
Skills and Experience:

A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Certified Medical Coder, preferably in a hospital or busy medical office.
Proven experience with surgical and hospital outpatient coding.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring work is thorough and accurate.
Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education and Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited medical coding program through AHIMA or AAPC is preferred.
Current, active CPC or CCS certification.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
