The Body Shop Technician at PTR is responsible for maintaining the quality of our rental fleet throughout its entire lifespan. Collaborating closely with our experienced technicians and other team members, they perform hundreds of repairs and maintenance activities each month to keep our customized rental fleet in top condition. Their expertise and attention to detail will play a critical role in ensuring that our customers can rely on our equipment to get the job done. COMPENSATION

This position has a competitive compensation package that is a combination of hourly base pay plus profit sharing paid quarterly after 1 year of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Wearing all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary
• Complying with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials, and reporting any deviations to management
• Understanding and complying with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA's Right to Know
• Assessing vehicle damage and estimating materials, labor, and costs to ensure cost-effectiveness while meeting customer schedules
• Completing the refinished process on repaired vehicles, including cosmetic repairs, masking, sanding, applying undercoats, removing panels and bumpers, and replacing damaged parts
• Having working knowledge of all aspects of repairs for damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles
• Prepping, painting, and bed lining damaged OEM panels, aftermarket toolboxes, aftermarket beds, and trailers
• Developing appropriate and efficient methods for repair
• Maintaining tools and equipment, including paint and bed line booths, in a proper state of repair
• Utilizing tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Maintaining a clean and tidy work area
• Escalating any concerns, issues, or improvement ideas to your manager
• Performing other related duties as assigned
• Being able to use and navigate an iPad

REQUIREMENTS

• Must Have
• Some body shop and painting experience and/or currently attending an automotive technical school
• Maintain a good driving record and be properly licensed
• Basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals
• Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
• Basic knowledge of sheet metal repair methods
• Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers
• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong team player but also can work independently
• Must be able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time

• Nice-to-Have
• Experience working with rental equipment or fleet maintenance
• Experience with computerized paint mixing and matching systems
• Advanced knowledge of sheet metal repair methods and techniques
• Knowledge of current trends and techniques in body shop repair and painting
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to mentor and train junior technicians
• Willingness to continuously learn and improve technical skills
