True Classic is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Merchandiser to support the execution of our seasonal merchandising process. This role is a unique mix of inspiration shopping, market research, hindsight analysis, calendar management, data analysis, and creative storytelling — perfect for someone who thrives at both structured execution and uncovering product opportunities.

You will play a critical role in keeping the team on track with milestones, delivering actionable insights from sales and competitive analysis, and supporting the build-out of tools that bring seasonal assortments to life.

In this role, you'll also work closely with our founder, gaining unique exposure to the story behind every item we've ever created. This is a full-time, in-office role based at our Calabasas, CA headquarters. You'll be on-site with the team Monday through Friday.

Areas of Accountability

Market Research & Competitive Insights

  • Partner directly with the founder and leadership team to translate brand vision into product strategy.
  • Shop the market regularly across retail and digital channels to track emerging styles, fabrics, and competitor assortments.
  • Build and maintain seasonal fabric/style libraries and inspiration archives.
  • Share insights with leadership to inform assortment planning and new product opportunities.

Analysis & Business Insights

  • Conduct sell-through and competitive analysis to highlight wins, misses, and opportunities.
  • Track SKU performance, assortment balance, and pricing architecture.
  • Provide actionable insights that help inform future seasonal strategies.

Calendar & Process Management

  • Own day-to-day tracking and management of the merchandising calendar.
  • Ensure deliverables, deadlines, and cross-functional handoffs are completed on time.
  • Partner with Planning, Product Development, and Marketing to keep milestones aligned.

Creative & Visual Merchandising Support

  • Build and maintain inspiration boards, seasonal visual boards, and product storytelling decks.
  • Support the creation of visual boards, lookbooks, and assortment presentations.
  • Support in organizing and maintaining fabric/style libraries and inspiration archives.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner closely with PD, Production, Planning, and Marketing to ensure seasonal line vision is executed and milestones are met.
  • Provide merchandising inputs (assortment priorities, color/fabric direction, hindsight learnings) to guide PD and Production decisions.
  • Act as the connective tissue across teams to maintain alignment, while keeping merchandising focused on what and why we build.
Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of merchandising and/or merchandise planning experience (apparel strongly preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Must have a strong passion and admiration for product
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage calendars, deadlines, and multiple workstreams.
  • Comfortable building visual decks and boards
  • Strong eye for market insights, competitive analysis, and product opportunities.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $80K - $90K
